In person appointments are held in the GSA office in the Commons, Room 308. Students do not need to have any writing completed before the appointment. Generally, this appointment type is good as a follow-up (final proofreading) from a previous session, or for assignments that are 5 pages in length or less. PLEASE DO NOT SELECT THIS APPOINTMENT TYPE IF YOUR PAPER IS MORE THAN 5 PAGES AND WE HAVE NOT MET IN THE PAST. I will email you and highly advise that you schedule a 1-hour appointment if you do.

Asynchronous

During asynchronous appointments, the writing advisor will make edits to the student's work without the student needing to be available. Asynchronous appointments are useful for proofreading or general edits. Planning or brainstorming sessions cannot be conducted asynchronously. Asynchronous appointments MUST SUBMIT WRITING at least 1 hour prior to the appointment time to GSAWA@umbc.edu. Please include your name, appointment date, and appointment time in the subject line. Students should be clear about their goals for the session, assignment guidelines, and their selecting writing style if applicable (MLA, APA, etc).
